Located on 900 acres in the wilderness of the Allegheny mountains, Fort Necessity National Park contains the original battlefield that sparked the start of the French/Indian War. That epic battle began a seven year struggle between Great Britain and France for control of North America.

The national park endeavored to illustrate the different factions that played a part in this historical war. The exhibition features civilian pioneers, Native Americans and English soldiers as well as a figure of George Washington, who as young man commanded the colonial troops defeated there in 1754.
