4 Fiberglass Figures With Natural Clothing, Painted Monochrome
Completed: June 2012
Client: Design + Production
On August 1972, during Operation Lion's Den, three U.S. Naval cruisers bombarded targets near Haiphong, Vietnam and were forced to fight off an attack by North Vietnamese fast attack crafts. The American ships and A-7 Corsair II attack planes dispatched to the scene sank the Communist vessels.
The figures show a reenactment of the fighting bridge of USS Newport News (CA 148), one of the ships from the battle. The props, helmets, and clothing were donated by the museum for the display.
